We’re getting ready to launch and we need some submissions! We will consider works from new authors (either unpublished or with a short list of publications) in any and all genres and forms; fiction, poetry, non-fiction, and scripts will all be considered. All submissions must be of less than 20,000 words and follow some basic guidelines on our “Submission Guidelines” page, but otherwise we’re looking for submissions of all forms: short stories, essays, creative non-fiction, poems, screen and stage plays, and serials.

All submissions are critiqued by our panel of editors and our unique system allows authors to log-in and change their submissions after submitting, no more worrying about a missed typo in your draft, you can log-in and change it and no one will ever be the wiser. We accept simultaneous submissions, but request that you log in and withdraw your submission if it is accepted elsewhere.

We are a not-for-profit, volunteer run company (soon to be registered in Alberta, Canada) and are unable to pay huge sums of money for accepted submissions. Currently, each accepted submission will receive $1.00 in payment and access to an editable artist’s profile hosted on thequillmagazine.org. Accepted authors can use this profile in future submissions to other magazines and journals, providing the much needed “publication history” many new, unpublished authors struggle to find.

As to rights, we purchase the sole publication rights for a period of 90 days. This means that 90 days after your submission goes live you are free to resubmit the story elsewhere, but the submission will remain on our site as well.

Please visit https://thequillmagazine.org/submission-guidelines/ to register and submit your first story.

We look forward to reading your submission, happy writing!
